Family Home Evening Fun

Chris and I decided last week that we were going to have more productive family home evenings. We out line the calendar with each week. The first Monday of the month is Finance. The second Monday is a fun activity. The third is food storage and the last Monday of the month is spiritual. Since this week was a fun activity we decided to go to Settlement Canyon Reservoir. Chris decided to go fishing. I took some awesome pictures of him fishing and the beautiful scenery.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Today is Heather's first "real" Mother's Day. I say real because before she always felt depressed and sort of left out. But now we have Christian!!!!Yeah!!!!! Both Heather and Christian are sleeping right now so I thought I would write a message while I had a moment. I am so thankful that I have Heather in my life. She is so good for me; we balance each other out.

I spoke with my own Mother earlier today and she seemed to be doing well. I am glad to be her son and hope she is happy with what I've done with my life so far. Nevertheless, referencing my previous blog, I still hold a melancholy outlook. Thinking to myself lately, the question dawned: "The year is 2008, I graduated from High School almost nine years ago, and what have I become?" Certainly blessings frequently occur in my life. Certainly my circumstances could be worse. The most sobering fact of all: my choices and attitude exercise ultimate influence over my future. The outcome depends solely on me. I am definitely thankful for my job, home, and family. However, I often feel the slow pace of my educational pursuits depresses my outlook on the future. Now as a father, I feel this worry heightens my sense of urgency to get where I want to be.........Okay, Commercial Break.............I am sure that you all are sick of my rambling reflections so I am going to post some pictures of the ever popular Chocolate Christian:






The pictures listed above were from last weekend. We went to Richmond to see my nephew Cory receive the Aaronic Priesthood. Well, we are going to Farmington to celebrate Mother's Day. Thanks for your time and Congrats all Mothers and Mothers to be!!!!!

Inconsistent Blogging

Our blog is really going down hill. It seems we never update it anymore. Okay, so maybe once a week. I have felt bad about this and sort of in a melancholy mood. So, as a means of solving the problem here I am. I should be in bed as church begins at 9:00am tomorrow, but I really felt like doing something else. Earlier we attended the Tavaci concert for Mark and Cheree's children. This went pretty well and Christian was really good. Afterward we had dinner and watched a movie on Mark's projector. Thanks Mark and Cheree for the good food and letting us spend time with your children!!! We arrived home really late, and as I mentioned before, I should be in bed but I am not.

I guess I would not be doing anyone a favor if I didn't include a picture or video of Christian. He is getting so big, yet is still very small. I can't believe how strong he is though. He fights when you feed him. If he doesn't want the bottle in his mouth he finds a way to push it out, even if it is temporary. Earlier this week, Christian rolled over for Heather. She finally got the privilege of witnessing this relatively new baby skill.

Our weekend

This weekend has been a very tiring, but fun journey. We drove to Parowan on Friday night. We left about 6:15 pm and arrived about 10pm. I was up after midnight working on my parents computer. It seemed to be having a problem with freezing up. After some trouble shooting. I discovered the problem was a loose cable to their hard drive. The cable probably came loose due to vibrations in the case, which are mainly caused by the fans inside. I was happy I figured out what the problem was, but it was stupid of me to stay up that late. Such is my life with computers.

My Mom and Dad drove us down to Las Vegas to see Jon and Veronica. Ruben was being christened and baptized at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. It was good to see little Ruben. He is getting so big. The ceremony was done in Spanish, so we didn't understand too much of what was being said. Afterwards we took pictures in the courtyard and returned to Jon and Veronica's home where we ate and prepared for the party they were hosting later. We ate a lot and had a lot of fun being there. I even beat Dad in a game of Chess! We returned home from Vegas about 11:30pm and found out the Jazz had beat the Rockets and are up 3-1 in their playoff series.

Down in Las Vegas, I noticed Christian wanting to reach for a little basket that was on a table. Mom commented about this, and so when we got home tonight we wanted to see if Christian would reach out and grab the animals on the mobile above his changing table. Christian Update

This is the latest and greatest updates of Christian in action. He is doing what he does best....being really cute. Enjoy!!!

Christian does not understand how to work this jump-up thingy yet but I am sure he will learn.

Christian in the Buff...and on the Move....

We've gone through a blog drought and thought it was time for our experiences to precipitate once again. Although there's no rain in the forecast today. Sunday is living up to its name. Christian is getting really big. There's not as much room on the changing table for him. I was blessed to witness Christian roll over for the first time this week, Thursday April 10 to be exact. Heather was at a primary meeting, so I received the babysitting assignment. I heard Christian in the other room fussing a bit so I went to check on him. I noticed he wasn't in his original position. I thought "He's figured something out". If I remember correctly, I repositioned him a little, because he "traveled" up against the railing of his crib. Leaving the room, I noticed Christian staring up at me as if to say "Dad don't leave me". So I stayed another moment. And that is when it happened. Christian flailed his feet a bit and then found traction assuming a stinkbug pose. His rear over took his head in an almost shoulder roll fashion. As a father, I was impressed with his technique and entertained by his new trick. I intervened to ensure he didn't get his feet unsafely entangled in the crib railing, repositioning him once again. A moment or two after moving Christian, I received an encore performance. Now I knew it was not a fluke. Luckily for us, Christian doesn't roll over repeatedly yet, so we haven't dropped the crib mattress or childproofed the cabinets....yet. Enough of my blabbering, here are some of our latest pics:
